What is Laser Prostate Surgery ?

Laser prostate surgery does not use any electrical current and therefore is safer in patients. The bleed is less and therefore the infection rate is less. The patient has a faster recovery. In cardiac cases on blood thinners the patient can be operated safely with little need to stop the blood thinner. In patients with pacemakers the turp electrical surgery can interfere with the pacemaker, since laser does not interfere with the pacemaker, the surgery is safer in patients with pacemakers. Even in patient with poor cardiac ejection fraction the laser does not increase the load on the heart and therefore is safer than TURP.
