Prostate cancer is initially asymptomatic but in later stages it can present with obstruction to urine flow. Also patient may have bleed in the urine. In more advanced cases the patient may have pain the bones of the body.

How can we detect prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer can be detected by evaluation by a uro-cancer surgeon. Initially a PSA test is ordered which is prostate specific antigen. If the results are out of range then a MRI of the prostate is ordered. If the suspicion of cancer is high then the surgeon will perform a prostate biopsy. This is the confirmatory test for prostate cancer detection.
